Microtweezer MTW
A piezo-driven microtweezer for pick-and-place — one jaw fixed, one jaw stepping in 0.25 nm increments across a 3 mm span.

One jaw fixed, one jaw driven#
The MTW-EM is a microtweezer plug-in: two arms, but only one moves. The other is mounted to a piezo-motor, so it steps in increments as fine as 0.25 nm while the fixed jaw holds a stable reference edge. Across a 3 mm span, that is enough range to open around a particle well outside the field of a typical nanoprobe tip, then close the gap in nanometre-scale steps.
Built for the pick-and-place in between#
At 26 mm total length, 14 mm tip length and 4 mm height, the MTW-EM sits between fine probing tools and bulkier handling equipment — sized for objects too large for a single sharp tip but awkward to place by hand under the beam. It operates from 273 K to 353 K, down to 10⁻⁷ mbar, and shares the MM3A-EM’s own positioning whenever a task calls for a grip rather than a point contact. Your existing micromanipulator system can be quickly and easily upgraded for use with the MTW-EM, in place of another tip holder.
